I worship on the Sabbath for two reason:
1. God blessed the Sabbath
Genesis 2:3 – And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made.
- This is the only day that God blessed, and God Himself made the Sabbath. He blessed. The blessing on the seventh day implied that this was a special and divine favor day for God’s creatures.
2. God Sanctified the Sabbath
To sanctify something means to make it sacred or Holy, or to set it apart as Holy for Holy use, to consecrate it. People, a place, such as a sanctuary, temple, or a church.
- God sanctified the seventh day means that this day is Holy.
- He set it apart for divine – Human relationship.
When we talk about God’s rest on the seventh day, it was not because He was weary. Isaiah 40:28 – Hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the Lord, the creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of His understanding.
Jesus did not rest on the Sabbath Day (Read Matthew 12:1-14) Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it Holy”
Exodus 20:11 – For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
Hallowed – Dedicate, Dedication – to dedicate something is to set it apart or to install it, usually for God and His service.
Holy – Holiness is an attribute of God and of all that is fit for association with Him.
Sanctification – In the biblical sense, the word sanctification relates directly to the Hebrew and Greek word for Holy.
This is why I worship on the Sabbath!
